We’re a family run, local business and proud of it. It means we’re small enough to be approachable, flexible and friendly yet experienced enough to have been teaching babies in Yorkshire since 2006 and be considered experts in our field. Our fantastic team of teachers are all mums too, so they know how important your children’s safety, happiness and ability in the water is to you, as well as how to get the very best out of them!
Our fun but structured programme of lessons is designed primarily to make babies safe in the water but we also add a huge dollop of fun – songs, games, races and activities are carefully structured to enhance skills and understanding but by stealth! Swim-tots are often so busy enjoying themselves that they don’t realise they’re learning too! Submersion plays an important part in our classes, as you will find that your baby loves to be under the water. However, this will never be forced and you will be shown how to recognise when your baby is happy to swim underwater, and when they would rather do something else. A key element of the programme is developing the trust between you and your child so that all activities are enjoyed at the right time for both of you.
It’s good to know that all swim-tots teachers are specialists; fully qualified to STA baby and pre-school standards in addition to being fully certified NPLQ lifeguards, the most comprehensive and rigorous pool safety qualification there is. Many schools opt instead for the rescue test certificate which requires only a few hours’ training once every 2 years – we don’t think that’s adequate when you’re looking after little ones, so we hold monthly training courses for our teachers and constantly keep them updated on the latest safety techniques. It’s another way in which we make sure our teachers are among the best there are!
